It is not an easy test
The dMAT looks simple on paper, but 20 tasks in 25 minutes with no rough paper is hard. Do not walk in unprepared — start practising now, not the week before.

Your score comes from your mind, critical thinking and practice — not from a syllabus. Every timed set you do makes the patterns faster to spot on the day.

03Planning backwards
Where the dMAT sits in your APS timeline.
Results arrive on 8 February 2027 for the January test and 5 April 2027 for the March test, and the certificate then goes into your APS file — assuming the test applies to your degree field and intake in the first place. Work backwards from the university deadlines you are targeting for summer semester 2027 and later — if a programme closes applications before your certificate is issued, the cycle you register for matters as much as the score.
Because the dMAT tests reasoning rather than syllabus knowledge, preparation time is measured in weeks of short timed sets, not months of study. Twenty minutes a day of timed practice is worth more than one long session a week — and whether the dMAT is pass/fail, and what the fee actually buys are the two things most people want settled before they start.
